Fonts

A text clip can use any font installed on your Mac, or one of the faces that come with Frame Job. Both appear in the same list, so there’s nothing to set up.

To choose a font, see Font and text style.

These faces are always in the Family list. They need no installing, so a project that uses them draws the same on any Mac.

Family Weights
Anton Regular
Bebas Neue Regular
Darker Grotesque Light to Black
IBM Plex Mono Regular, Medium
Montserrat ExtraBold, Black
Source Sans 3 ExtraLight to Black
Source Serif 4 ExtraLight to Black

All seven are under the SIL Open Font License.

The Family list holds every font family on your Mac, in alphabetical order. Frame Job reads it once each time it launches, so a font you install while it’s running appears after you quit and reopen it.

A project remembers a font by name and doesn’t hold the font file. If you open it on a Mac without that font, the project still opens and the Text sub-tab still works.

  • macOS draws the text in a stand-in font.
  • Family shows the first family in the list, which isn’t the font the project asked for.
  • Picking a Family or Style replaces the missing font on that clip.

Until you pick something, the clip keeps the name of its font, so it draws correctly again once the font is installed.

Graphics work differently. A graphic draws only with the fonts Frame Job ships with and fonts you add to the project, never with the fonts installed on your Mac. A font Frame Job ships with is never packed into a .fjgraphic package, because every copy of the app already has it. See Fonts and pictures in graphics.
