Safe areas

Safe areas are two guide frames over the picture. Use them to keep titles and important action away from the edges, where a screen or a player’s controls can cover them.

Choose View ▸ Safe Areas, or tick Safe in the toolbar. Two centred frames appear, one at 90 % of the canvas’s width and height and one at 80 %. On a 1920 × 1080 canvas that’s 1728 × 972 and 1536 × 864.

The frames aren’t labelled, and the inner one is drawn fainter. The menu item has a checkmark while they show.

The guides are off to begin with, and Frame Job remembers your choice between launches.

  • The percentages are of the canvas, not the pane, so the frames zoom and pan with the picture.
  • They take no clicks, so everything under them still works.
  • They’re guides only. They never appear in an export or a saved frame.
